My son has been playing banjo for about 1.5 years in the Northeast. We came down to Tennessee in 2019 for a week to visit family and wanted to continue my son's banjo lessons while we were away from home, so I set up a lesson with Robert. He far and away exceeded our expectations. He's extremely kind, patient, encouraging, knowledgeable, talented, and an excellent teacher. When we visited again this summer (2020) we made sure to carve out time for my son to have lessons with Robert again and it was exactly as awesome as we remembered. My son made gains in his playing in the three weeks in Tennessee under Robert's teaching that he hadn't been able to do in several months at home. Highly recommend!

Great banjo instructor! Teaches you to play your banjo without a music book where you can jam with others without knowing the song. Also will eduacate you that a banjo is not just for bluegrass music. It can play all types of music like classical and jazz, and sound beautiful. He can take any song that is written for a piano and convert it to banjo music. So, if you really want to take your banjo skills to the next level and be great at playing all types of music on your banjo, this is the guy for you. He is also great with kids. I'm not a banjo player, but my son is. My son has been taking banjo lessons for years until his bluegrass instructor retired. I'm so glad we found Banjo lessons of ET. My son (and his mother) is finally learning what a banjo can actually do.

I couldn't be happier taking banjo lessons from him. I started with almost no musical experience and after just a few weeks of lessons I've already learned more than I could've imaged about music and banjo playing. He's an excellent and patient instructor, and it's clear he cares more about making sure his students learn and enjoy themselves than about making money. If you're on the fence about taking lessons or even about picking up a banjo, I strongly recommend giving him a call. I was a little skeptical about the banjo at first. It sounded cool, but I'd only heard it in bluegrass songs which exactly isn't my favorite genre of music. But he's shown me you can play anything you want with the banjo, and that you can have a lot of fun doing it.
